Confirmation

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation,
a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him
who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." 1 Peter 2:9

What is confirmation?

Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop.

Those who wants to be confirmed must satisfy these conditions:

  • A baptized Christian
  • 13 years and above and able to answer responsibly for themselves
  • Have received appropriate preparation through a short course of preparatory lessons and discussions

The confirmation service is organised by the parish priest, in consultation with the Bishop. If you wish to be prepared for confirmation, or want your child to be confirmed, please contact your Zone Pastor.
