DISCIPLESHIP: PUT CHRIST FIRST

   Col. 1:15-20; John 1:1-14

1. Christ is the Manifestation of God

   • Col. 1: 15a He is the image of the invisible God

2. Christ is the Creator of the Universe

   • Col. 1: 15b-17 …the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

3. Christ is the Head of the Church

   • Col. 1:18-20 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Questions for Discussion

1. What are some different opinions about Jesus you’ve heard? Who is Jesus to you personally?

2. xIn Colossians 1:15-20, what things do you learn about who Jesus is, or what he did, or what he does? What are the implications of those things for your life?

3. How do you feel that Christ the Creator and Redeemer is in charge of you and your church? What does this mean to you?

4. How do you put Christ first in your life? In your church? How should you? What are you going to do about it?
