Message from Bishop Albert Vun

This week, I am speaking at a conference in London for Trinity College, Bristol, and this weekend will speak in Cambridge to challenge the church and also students on mission - for some to consider to serve as English teachers in our schools. Travel is always tiring for me, but this is a great opportunity to connect with churches in UK and Europe to work together to spread the gospel. While here, I discovered that Europe has less than 3% evangelical Christians in their population. My heart is deeply saddened that the church has declined so far. At the same time I thank God to see some lively churches with strong commitment to plant churches and spread the gospel. I am meeting HTB (Holy Trinity Brompton) leaders to see how we can help each other in the works of mission. From this one church, because of consistent effort to preach the gospel, many “new” and growing congregations are planted in London. Even Hillsongs from Sydney has 3 large congregations here in London and another 3 in Europe. There is still great hope in the midst of difficult and overwhelming harvest fields. It gives us a clear warning that we must keep our faith strong and be faithful in doing the works the Lord has called the church to do. If we do not, the church will weaken and eventually lose is effectiveness. Jesus spoke of the lamp that is put under a bushel and the salt that has lost its saltiness. Some of the churches in the East now need to contribute to the evangelization of Europe. We must all help to put the full resources available to us to invest into global mission. We must begin praying now, for the “dark continent” of Europe. We have a duty and responsibility to give back to the Church in UK and Europe, which had given so much in earlier years to spread the gospel of hope in our region.
